MLK Day: MommyJacking Edition
Sometimes submissions feel like inauthentic props, like someone is paying Darlene and Patricia over at central casting to play the role of “mommyjackers” for the day on Facebook. It’ll come out later that they’re actually working for a bleach brand or something. Perhaps in the future, that’s how we’ll be marketed to? Anyway, I still felt the need to post this submission because A) it has to do with MLK Day, B) it’s a classic mommyjacking, and C) I actually received it from TWO readers (both BzzAgent fans, no doubt), so it just seemed like the right thing to do.
That said, it’s almost trite at this point for people to mommyjack holidays (otherwise known as holidayjacking). Yes, BzzAgent asked if people had the day off as a way to incite discussion, but not that kind of discussion. Not the kind that begins with, “I wish!” and ends with, “I’M A MOM!” That’s like if the Reverend Dr. King, Jr. was asked, “Hey, Dr. King, when’s your next day off?” and he replied, “I never get a day off! I’M A CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER! AND A DAD!” I mean, we get it: Parents have responsibilities around the clock. When you’re responsible for another life form, that’s kind of the deal. But at least follow up the mommyjacking with something like, “I’ll be spending the day teaching little Nevaeh about Dr. King’s wonderful message of peace and racial equality!” Make it relevant. Fake it if you have to!

I’m a stay at home mom and everyday is a day off. I get tired of these moms who act like they work sooo hard. You get to sit in PJ’s all day if you want to! Stop yammering or go get a real job and let me know how that works out for you.

Eli Manning

I hear a lot of shit talk about Eli having dumb face. Maybe he does, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a football genius. People should show him some respect for the job he does and how he does it even though everyones against him. I love Eli, maybe its because to me he’s an under dog, the way e eryone talks about him, I’m not sure. And I know its not a very popular opinion here in Cowboy country, but I don’t care. I hate the Cowboys. Anywhoo, just wanted everyone to know I’m riding with Eli, hopefully all the way to another ring.

Day 5-Quitting Smoking

Today is day 5 of my quest to quit smoking. Its a lot better than day 2, but it still sucks balls. My bff is over with her hubby to watch the football games. Usually we leave the guys inside and go outside and drink adult beverages while smoking. Not tonight.

We are sitting in here with the guys. This makes me realize how great smoking was. It gave us a timeout from the men folk.
